Sounds of the Peloponnese
A ruminative portrait of a friend followed along the E4 trail in the mountains in Peloponnese, Greece, north coast to south coast. Our friendship has spanned almost ten years and has always represented a sort of magic in my life; my relationship with her has shown me the possibilities in human connection and how bonds can be stronger than anything in this world. I followed her blindly over 200 kilometers with a significant part of the trip just being us and the mountains. I try to represent my thought process over the journey in this film - an amalgamation of self-discovery, a confrontation of nature and my ego, and the deepening connection to my friend as well as to the environment that graced and forgave us. Made in the summer 2023.
Director, Editor, Producer, Writer: Kate Peddicord
Run time: 9:07
The Sounds of the Peloponnese was screened in Le Marigny bar in the 13th arrondissement of Paris on July 18, 2023.
I invited friends and family to watch an early edit of the film and to give feedback. After the discussion and with handwritten notes I asked people to write, I edited the film down from 24 minutes to the current 9:07.
There were around 15 attendees in the intimate space and it was special to be able to share my work on a big screen for the first time.
